AMD Gaming PC Step 6: Storage

My Sapphire Pure Black 990FX motherboard has Nine 6G/s SATA ports. I’m gonna take full advantage of them.

I’m using a Sandisk 120GB SSD as my boot drive. I’ve loaded Windows 8.1 onto this and can boot to Windows in about 10-15 seconds of hitting the poet button.

I’m also using two 1TB 7200 RPM Seagate Hard Drives. Newer games take tons of space so I know I need a lot of space. My existing collections on Steam and Origin will already eat up a ton of hard drive space. I am future proofed for more.

I also have another 1TB 7200 RPM Western Digital Hard Drive.

I also have various laptop hard drives that I plugged into the system as well.

Even with al of the above plugged in, I still have more room for expansion.

I do backup all of my data on a regular basis to external hard drives and to the cloud. I learned my lesson on data loss many many years ago.

Since I have the space, maybe I should configure some type of RAID array.

So far in my build:
-AMD FX-8350 Unclocked Processor
-Sapphire Pure Black 990FX Motherboard
-16GB DDR AMD Performance Series RAM
-Fractal Design Tesla R2 800W Power Supply
-HIS Radeon 7970 IceQ X² 3GB GHz Edition GDDR5 GPU
-Sapphire HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 GPU
-Sandisk 128GB SSD
-Western Digital 1TB 7200RPM HDD
-Seagate 1TB 7200RPM HDD x 2
